It has officially gotten VERY cold in the last 24 hours. But I am not complaining! The house Is toasty warm, thanks to our new wood stove.
It is getting late in the evening now. The children are *suppose* to be asleep(and usually are at this point)But late naps have kept them awake, and their very active minds have kept them thinking up every imaginable reason why they need something("I need another drink, Mommy"...which is ALWAYS proceeded by "MOM!! I need to go potty"!!!)While waiting for them to go to sleep I decided to snap a few pictures of our Christmas tree and new wood stove. Enjoy!...and Goodnight!

INTRODUCING...
LUCY...
An almost three year old Basset Hound... We got her in the hopes that she would help calm down our two-year old Beagle. You see, he is basically a lunatic and Bassets our known for there calm even temperament's, so we figured what could go wrong!(Actually, I wanted to get a Great Dane in hopes that it would EAT the Beagle for Breakfast, but hubby didn't go for that idea...)
And Its working! They get along great! Though she herself seems to have a few little quirks...For instance, she seems to prefer women. When ever I go outside she comes scampering up to me...
With her tongue hanging out...because, OK, I MIGHT have a treat for her :)(maybe THAT's why she like me more? ;) and it doesn't look like she is will be working out to be a guard dog, as she quickly disappears whenever someone new shows up.(she goes and hides behind the barn until they are gone.)
She is a beautiful dog and is fitting in well around here...
Today I caught her sleeping, using the sidewalk as a pillow(Somehow she made it look comfy!)
And I should mention that a certain little girl has taken a very special interest in Lucy and makes it her priority everyday to check on, and make sure Lucy is OK.
Her love of animals Is so sweet....
And just so Im completly honest with you this persons blog had NOTHING to do with me wanting a Basset Hound!(wink, wink)

A Break...
Yes, I have taken a little 'siesta' from blogging this Summer. But that break is over now...
Yes, I am big enough to admit it, during said break I was resting... and It looked something like this...
Im lying...I can't sleep on my back...anyone who knows me, knows I sleep curled up in the fetal position like Im still in the womb!
So, stay tuned for pictures and stories of all the adventures that we went on this Summer!

Her Grandma H. got her a pony with its own tree house!! Oh that every pony were so lucky!! :P
This Summer Big brother has been the finder of the small slimy creatures around our place(insert me *shuddering* here, as I am NOT fond of touching these creatures)

Brother likes playing in the dirt!
And I enjoy taking pictures of the sunsets!
Oh and this thing showed up on our porch a couple of weeks ago...At this point it has become a sore subject and NO, I don't want to talk about it...
Also little miss has now started doing her own hair!(at times) Got-a LOVE that!! :)
Well That's all for now...BYE!

Thoughts....
"Welcome every morning with a smile.
Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator,
Another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday.
Be a self starter.
Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day.
Today will never happen again.
Don't waste it with a false start of no start at all.
You were not born to fail." Og Mandino
"There is no better than adversity.
Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed,
its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time."
Og Mandino
"Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if
they were going to be dead by midnight.
Extend to them all the care, kindness, and
understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward.
Your life will never be the same again."
Og Mandino
"I will smile at friend and foe alike and make every effort to find, in him or her, a quality to praise, now that I realize the deepest yearning of human nature is the craving to be appreciated."
Og Mandino
"Each misfortune you encounter will carry in it
the seed of tomorrow's good luck."

Brad Paisley Concert 2010!
If you know me very well, you know I LOVE Country Music. If you know me very well AT ALL, you would know my favorite country artist is Brad Paisley.
My hubby had heard on the radio that he was going to be In KC and he got me tickets! Then he told me he would watch the kids and for me to take a girlfriend and have fun!!!( I know at this point you are probably plotting my death so you can have my wonderful husband,But, back I say, BACK OFF...He is mine!!!)
I asked my Sister Ruth If she would like to go with me...Of course she wanted too!! She may not love Country music like I do, but she does like Brad Paisley...So off we went...
We had fairly good seats at the back of the floor area, but when we got down there our seat number's weren't their... A guy took our tickets gave us new ones(and mumbled something about It being our "lucky night")and told us our seats had been moved... then a lady came and took us right up in front of the stage!!!! I felt like I was going to have a heart attack!! I was going to be few feet from BRAD PAISLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough talking...on with the pictures!!!!
Waiting...
Brad is the one In the white cowboy hat and playing the blue guitar... MAN can he play that thing!!!! Here he is singing "Water"
Singing "Online".
This was how close we were to him when he came down to our part of the stage...
:)
Brad walking through the crowd. This was on the BIG screen. I was not really in front of him. :)
Singing "Mud on the tires"!!!! Don't trucks look the best when they have a little mud on em?!!
Over-all it was a way cool experience! But Im NOT sure how I will top this when Hubby's Birthday rolls around? any suggestions?!!! lol!!

Kids Say The Darndest Things!
Of course this TV show was a little before my time, but growing up my Mom had the book "kids say the darndest things". It was full of all the funny things the kids on Art Linkletters show had said.
Today my memory was jogged about this when my son was swimming this afternoon and said(very seriously, I might add) "Mom, I need some-more Sunburn"! It took me a minute to realize he wanted more "Sunblock"!! LOL... Kids DO say the Darndest things!!

Lions, Monkeys and the Skyfari... OH MY!
The Zoo continued...
Lions...
Monkeys...
And the Skyfari... Please do this at your own risk...it looked all "fun" from the ground...but when you actually get up in one...Its TERRIFYING!!!
Serously, Im getting a little ill just looking at these photos...
My son loved it though...
I looked back at my husband and daughter and had to laugh... My husband looks as sick as I felt! Hubby said she loved it!!
Our feet hanging in thin air...Such a fun feeling...NOT!!(They made me take off my flip-flops, thats why Im barefoot)
I do have to say though, that my favorite photo of the day, was one I took while we were trapped in mid air on the blasted Skyfari...
This one...My son checking out the rather large kitty below...
WHEW... WE made it off...With out falling into the pen with the kitty! YAY!!!
Then bubba wanted to run into the Butterfly house(or whatever its called).
They had rotten fruit for the Butterflies...It didnt smell the greatest in there! lol
To end... When YOUR at the Zoo and you see the kookaburra Bird... Do you break into song?
Or is that just me?..."Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree"....

Zoo
A couple of weekends ago we headed up to the Omaha Zoo with my husbands family.
It was crazy busy with people and strollers and kids... but still fun ;)
Little sister was ready to go, all tucked in her stroller(I got the stroller out to clean it up before we left and she acted like she had found a long lost friend!)
First off we saw the barnyard...the kids loved the goats!
This little goat came right up to my daughter and she was delighted(cause
she wasn't about to get out of HER stroller!)
Then we saw some otters
Then we rode on the train around the zoo...FUN, FUN!
When we were on the train we passed the employee parking and I saw this truck and HAD to take its picture...
I love old trucks! aint this a beauty?! I LOVE the color! Im gonna have to find some nail-polish in that color! Sorry, I got a little off track there...I do not have A.D.D. I SWEAR...Or maybe I do??...anywhoo back to the Zoo...
Riding the rails... Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
While we were on the train we saw Elephants...
And Giraffes...
Then we went to there outdoor bird sactuary. I think the lady said its the second largest one in the world(or something like that)
Im not gonna bore you with a bunch of pictures of birds though...
We saw a poor lonely polar bear.. He needed a hug (I could tell)
The Aqua-marina...Pretty cool! That's hubbys head in an Allis-Chalmers hat(shocking I know!)
