Lions, Monkeys and the Skyfari... OH MY!

The Zoo continued...

Lions...

Monkeys...

And the Skyfari... Please do this at your own risk...it looked all "fun" from the ground...but when you actually get up in one...Its TERRIFYING!!!

Serously, Im getting a little ill just looking at these photos...

My son loved it though...

I looked back at my husband and daughter and had to laugh... My husband looks as sick as I felt! Hubby said she loved it!!

Our feet hanging in thin air...Such a fun feeling...NOT!!(They made me take off my flip-flops, thats why Im barefoot)

I do have to say though, that my favorite photo of the day, was one I took while we were trapped in mid air on the blasted Skyfari...
This one...My son checking out the rather large kitty below...

WHEW... WE made it off...With out falling into the pen with the kitty! YAY!!!

Then bubba wanted to run into the Butterfly house(or whatever its called).

They had rotten fruit for the Butterflies...It didnt smell the greatest in there! lol

To end... When YOUR at the Zoo and you see the kookaburra Bird... Do you break into song?

Or is that just me?..."Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree"....

Zoo

A couple of weekends ago we headed up to the Omaha Zoo with my husbands family.
It was crazy busy with people and strollers and kids... but still fun ;)
Little sister was ready to go, all tucked in her stroller(I got the stroller out to clean it up before we left and she acted like she had found a long lost friend!)

First off we saw the barnyard...the kids loved the goats!

This little goat came right up to my daughter and she was delighted(cause
she wasn't about to get out of HER stroller!)

Then we saw some otters

Then we rode on the train around the zoo...FUN, FUN!

When we were on the train we passed the employee parking and I saw this truck and HAD to take its picture...

I love old trucks! aint this a beauty?! I LOVE the color! Im gonna have to find some nail-polish in that color! Sorry, I got a little off track there...I do not have A.D.D. I SWEAR...Or maybe I do??...anywhoo back to the Zoo...
Riding the rails... Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

While we were on the train we saw Elephants...

And Giraffes...

Then we went to there outdoor bird sactuary. I think the lady said its the second largest one in the world(or something like that)

Im not gonna bore you with a bunch of pictures of birds though...

We saw a poor lonely polar bear.. He needed a hug (I could tell)

The Aqua-marina...Pretty cool! That's hubbys head in an Allis-Chalmers hat(shocking I know!)

Birthday Boy!

Here are some photos from my sons fifth birthday party! As always we had a blast!!
I made this Birthday sign for his first Birthday, and have used it every birthday since...

Happy Birthday to you...

Legos!!!!

This makes my house the "official" cool place to be!! Dont ya think? :)

I Only allowed three to jump at a time ...

So there was some waiting...

My son didnt wait as patiently as the girls did(notice his head stuck through the flap)BOYS! *eye-roll* Hahaha

Then all the kids were kicked out by these hoolligans, they thought they needed some "air time! :)

The adults played some horshoes...I didnt get to play but it looked like fun!

Here my Mom and sister are trying there hand at it.

Happt Birthday to my little man! I cant believe your Five already!!

Life In the Country...

Growing up on a farm you meet people who love to share with you their dream of owning a bit of land and having a milk cow and some chickens and maybe a horse or two... I also met people who I could tell just felt so sorry for the poor ignorant farmgirl they assumed I was. This story is not for those people though... Its for the ones who dream life in the country is nothing short of "idyllic".

To all you people I give you this...

My children and I awoke this morning and found this snapping turtle...On our porch. Your probably thinking "big deal Janet" but let me tell you that my "porch" is completely enclosed except for the door way. So I have to figure out a way to get said beast through the doorway and off my porch with out it killing me(Yes that was a tad dramatic of me...SORRY, I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed right now).

OH GREAT! I just checked on the the little monster, and it has somehow stuck itself In my sons lawn chair!!(don't you want to be me right now?)

And did I mention It has already bit our dog?

So if you know anybody who wants a snapping turtle let me know!

(and a little word of advice if you happen to find yourself in a similer situation... trying to push it with a broom makes them VERY angry... and don't be fooled, they may look rather clumsy... they actually move quite fast when provoked. Of course they don't move in the direction you want them to, Oh no, they move(Its a cross between a "jump" and a "lunge") towards you! Fun, FUN!!)

So yes, the country life is not always "perfect" I could share many, many stories with you, like that one Summer our goats got out nearly every-single-day... Or that time we were chasing our Horses down the road(they were pretty much wild at that point) and dont get me started on how often the cows would get out! I know the country isn't for everyone, But Its born and bred In me to love the Country life...no matter what!

UPDATE: I ended up pushing it off the porch with a piece of plywood, with it pushing against it and snapping at me the whole time(they are crazy strong). It gladly headed off and it and I were glad to be rid of eachother...for now.

Five years...

Five years ago today, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined. I discovered the pain and joy of giving birth to my son.
He was the the most beautiful thing I had ever layed eyes on... With a sprout of red hair and the bluest of eyes...He will forever be my baby boy.

"Before you were conceived, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. When you were born, I saw your face
and knew I was in love. Before you were an hour old, I knew I would die for you. To this day, I will".

Mothers Day

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. ~Jewish Proverb

A mother understands what a child does not say. ~Author Unknown

Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother. ~Oprah Winfrey

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone

My mom is a neverending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune. ~Graycie Harmon

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. ~Abraham Lincoln

I have learned alot from my Mom over the years. I am so proud of her for overcoming the odds and standing up for herself. She truly is an example to me of how the trials in your like CAN make you BETTER...not bitter. I feel so incredibly blessed to see my Mom growing and being the person she was meant to be... I love you Mom!

Have a Happy Mothers day!

Storm Clouds

Monday night we were heading out to make an evening run to the local Gas station for some Root-Beer and chips(yes, it was a craving and NO I'm NOT pregnant!) when my husband told me I should grab my camera and take a picture of the clouds...

Their was a storm coming in..

After we got in the car it rained real hard for a few minutes and it almost looked like a tornado might come out of the menacing looking sky. A Tornado did NOT make its appearance(much to my husband's dismay and my delight). But I got some some pretty cool pictures out of it and thats really all that matters! :)
